Biokinetics” means the profession concerned with preventive health care, the maintenance of physical abilities and final phase rehabilitation, by means of scientifically-based physical activity programs. The benefits of biokinetics include an improvement of physical status and quality of life through individualized assessment and therapeutic exercise prescription. What is a Biokineticist?
The biokineticist is a specialised exercise therapist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). As a registered health care professional, services rendered by a Biokineticist could be deducted from medical aid (Depending on the individuals plan).
Scope of Practice
A specialised exercise therapist that functions in professional alliance to health and medicine, and is recognized by and registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. A Biokineticist improves a person’s physical status and quality of life through individualized assessment and exercise prescription in the dual context of clinical pathology (acute and chronic) and performance enhancement.
